Street Cleaning at Comstock Park HOA

YEAH! On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, two (2) Nye County Road Department street sweepers were in the park sweep cleaning our streets. The Board of Directors, spearheaded by Board member Paula Clark, was in communication with the Nye County Road Department for almost five (5) months to schedule both road maintenance and street sweeping. We were pushing for Nye County to remove the asphalt and lay new asphalt but they determined that the roads only needed pothole repair at this time. We tried and we will keep trying for new streets but we are grateful that they did what they did for us. We spoke to one of the gents sweeping the street and were told that they will be coming through the park all summer, and well into the fall, to clean our streets. He was not sure if they would be here once a week or once every two weeks. In any case, they will be here enough so our streets look as nice as they do now.

No Peeing in the Pool, PLEASE

As a reminder, with Comstock Park HOA pool opening at 8am on Monday, 27, May 2024, if any pee is detected when testing the pool water, the State requires us to close the pool. Parent, please talk with your kids about this. One person’s actions can affect all of us. We certainly do not want to close the pool, especially in the upcoming hot months of July, August and September. Your attention to this is most appreciated.

Danger!:  Dog Paws Burn in Heat

It is that season and we wish to remind all homeowners in Comstock Park HOA that the heat substantially increases the temperature on asphalt and concrete! An outside temperature of 90 degrees means the asphalt temperature is 150 degrees.

Burn symptoms are as follows:

The affected area is reddened and swollen (1st degree)
Clear blisters are visible (2nd degree)
The skin is charred (3rd degree)

You can avoid burning your dog’s paws by:

Do the “seven-second test” before walking your dog.
Walk your dog on grass or in meadows.¹⁰
Walk your dog at times when the ground is cooler – early in the morning or late in the evening.

If your dog’s paws get burnt, call your vet as soon as possible. If not treated properly, the paws can get horribly infected and it can be expensive.

Mountain Lion Climbed Fence on Steptoe

A Mountain Lion was seen climbing a fence on one of our homeowner’s property. Wildlife Management was called and they directed us to inform you that mountain lions have been venturing out of their domain due to a lack of food. Wildlife said that our pets are the targets.
